Porto? More like muro.

We started out looking for a cafe, then some guy with a half set of teeth asked us if we needed help and that he was a cool guy who could help us. Anyone who has to say they are a cool guy is no true cool guy. We realised this must be like the other scam where someone offers to help you park despite not needing help.

After swinging by the nataria for some of the best natas going we headed to the crystal jardins which were pretty scenic and had some cool fowl about.

There was a bin chicken oporto style.

After we went down to the river and ended up finding this vintage/antique/plant store, with vintage bike hire which had Portuguese food and wine being served in a sunny courtyard. If this place was in newtown there'd be a line to petersham.

We went back home for a siesta, then headed back out to the municipal market, consisting of a metro ride and cable car. (Porto has such ridiculous hills, I'm surprised it's named after a door and not a wall). Heidi had some freshly rolled sushi and I had 3 lots of pig sandwiches which came with a free wine. It was impossible to order the sandwich without the wine so what are you going to do?
Awake piggy! I need my pound of flesh

After having bacalhau and cafe and natas we caught the funicular down to the ribiera and met up with Chris, Sarah, Ben and anika for a boat ride down the mighty River. The tide here is going so fast there is a standing wave. It was possibly the least relaxing boat ride I'd ever had as the small child was constantly running all over the bow and trying to launch herself off the steps into the water. Anyway there were zero drownings and or rescues that day and we went to a place Chris spotted from the river.

The requirement for lunch was an obscene water view, francesinha and sardines. This place didn't disappoint and willow passed out shortly into the meal which meant I could devour this 5 meat sandwich with egg in peace. It was lucky as it took all my concentration and skill to finish.

Anatomical view of this amazing sandwich

We regrouped and met after a siesta and went for some port tastings. The children ran around in the square which was great for us as willow passed out during dinner, Heidi had a sensible vegetable linguine and I had a steak with more crisps. I am almost at the stage of becoming a jamon with all this salt. We went back to the funicular and acended "o muro" back to the apartment.
"I show you where we're going tomorrow mumma"
