#LagosGoals

We left Sesimbra in the Opel wagon hire car for Lagos. Heidi said the town next to Sesimbra's main tourist attraction was that there weren't many foreign tourists in it. So we decided to go there and ruin it for them. We stopped in and just had some lunch there, it was pretty industrial, so we decided to keep going.

The drive through the national park is really beautiful and super hilly, I was really wishing I had a bike for this part of the trip. We stopped in at a beach but gave up trying to get down to it when I saw the road had a 22% gradient with Willow strapped to me. We saw some ruins of what we think was fish market.
Steep

Ancient fish finger processing plant I think 🤔

Rolling hills and close up of finger

After the cultural experience we headed to Lagos and checked into the lodgings at the Apartamentos Turísticos Marsol. We went to the local mercado which was full of gourmet delights and stocked up on snacks and bebidas. Later we went for a walk around the old town and went to dinner at O Mexilhão, for some mussels and fries.
After my morning café and pastel de nata, we went to see a couple of nearby beaches, Praia de Luz(where we kept willow at arms reach all the time - too soon?). It was ok but felt like it had been colonised by Britain. Sunburns and breakfasts with beans as far as the eye could see. I dipped my toe in the water and it felt like I was standing in chopped ice, so we didn't stay for a swim.

The next beach we went to was at Praia de Mos. I hiked up the hill with Willow, to get a selfie on a rickety cliff as you do as and Australian in Portugal(too soon?).

We went back home via our new favourite spot the hiper intermarche. I was able to purchase a sensible sized bottle of wine.
Finally a country with adequate bottle sizes

We went back down to the old town and walked around the fortress and old city walls. Lagos used to be a big trading port, so it looks heavily fortified even today.

At night we went to a place nearby the hotel which the recepção lady recommended as a place where Portuguese eat, Restaurante Prato Cheio. I had clam cataplana which had 3 types of pork, clams and prawns in a delicious broth. I could eat this everyday.
How to take gourmet shots - make sure wiggles cup is in the background.
