Malaysia truly Asia

I am reinvigorating this blog once more. Although this trip is a work trip it is still travel!

Sunday morning I flew out of Sydney bound for Kuala Lumpur via Singapore on Singapore air. The onboard entertainment was alright and I got through about 4 movies. After landing I went to the lounge at Singapore airport and waited for my connecting flight on Silk Air. I was saddened to find that it was running 2hrs late. Anyway this meant I could scoff two more plates of Singapore noodles in the lounge and help myself to some more Tiger beers on tap.

Finally I was able to go to gate and get aboard the connecting flight, protip if your flight is with Silk Air make sure you have reading material as the on board entertainment is staring at the seat in front of you and reading a 15 page magazine filled with advertorials.

Thankfully after landing Malay immigration and customs didn't present much of a delay and I was out face-palming overpriced taxi touts on the way to the metered taxis in no time. My taxi driver was a nice bloke and he was talking about all the sites and what was going on in KL on the way in. This was lucky as it passed the time for the 1hr cab ride to the hotel in KLCC.

We were put up at the Renaissance Marriott, (thanks JDS and HP!) I checked in and immediately went to the room for a shower. After checking out the local TV stations and turning on the laptop, I realised I needed a power adapter for the local sockets to charge my devices. I asked the concierge where the nearest shopping center was and they pointed me in the right direction. The local shopping center is the Petronas Twin Towers, the most recognisable of structure in the KL skyline of skyscrapers. I grabbed a power adapter and was too exhausted to do anymore shopping and still full from the Singapore noodles so I headed back for a sleep so I could get up for the first lot of classes the next day.
